Information for Families Visiting Unity Eastside

Where do I go?

Unity Eastside is located at 8551 Buck Lake Drive in Tallahassee, FL. Click here for a map. The main entrance to the church is on the far left side of the building, at the top of the driveway.

When should I arrive?

Youth education is only provided during the 11:00 am service. It is strongly recommended that new families arrive at 10:40 if you’d like a tour, because the children’s program is in a building separate from the main church building. However, if this is not possible, our welcoming committee will be happy to assist you upon your arrival.

What do I do when I arrive?

The far left entrance of the main building is where the welcoming committee will greet you and provide each member of your family with a name tag. If you arrive in time for a tour, you will be guided by a youth and family volunteer. If not, the welcoming committee will direct you to the sanctuary.

Where are the classrooms?

The nursery and children’s programs are located behind the main building in the Children’s House. A brightly colored painted path leads families from the church building to the Children’s House. The teen room is located downstairs in the main building.

Do the kids stay in church or go directly to their classroom?

Families begin the service together for music and opening prayer. Children are then invited to the front of the sanctuary to be blessed by the congregation. If your child does not feel comfortable doing this, you may accompany them to the front, or they may stay seated with you. After the blessing, children and teens are escorted by their teachers to their classrooms. Feel free to accompany your child to their classroom, as well.

Do I have to "register" on my first visit?

We ask that you complete a brief form that will give us the basic information we need to ensure your child is safe, and placed in the correct classroom. The requested information is name, age, and known allergies. The welcoming committee will ask you to sign in, and you may provide as much information as you feel appropriate.

After about three visits to Unity Eastside, you will be asked to complete a more detailed registration form and will receive a "parent pack" with more in-depth information about the youth and family ministry.

What if I’d like to speak to somebody about the program before arriving?

You may contact Katie Lilly, the Director of Youth & Family Ministry at the church office or email her at youthdirector@unity-eastside.org.
