Our Music Director, Vicki Herlovich, has been sharing inspired music for a long time. She studied music privately while growing up in southern
Georgia with some of the finest piano and voice teachers available to her as well as public school band and chorus. She taught herself to play the
guitar and harmonica while also being steeped in Baptist gospel music, singing in church choirs from the age of 4. At the age of 18, she left home
to play the trumpet in Up With People and played and sang for world leaders and everyday people in South America, Canada and all over the United States.
She studied theatre at Florida State University and played guitar, sang and acted on Mainstage at FSU and in the summer stock program at Panama City Beach.
She wrote for and sang with Mickee Faust Cabaret from 1992 until 2001. In 1998 she founded, arranged for and directed the A Cappella Community Choir
until 2003, when she revived our Unity Eastside Choir. She has recorded with and played many venues in Tallahassee and North Florida with singing partner,
Erin Sologaistoa, as Church Chicks and Dos DIvas including the amphitheater stage at the Florida Folk Festival when they opened for Emmylou Harris.
She has been teaching private piano, voice and guitar lessons to students of all ages for the past 6 years. Vicki has recorded with local favorites
Carrie Hamby and Velma Frye. In 2004, Vicki became Unity Eastside’s Music Director where she has produced the Peace Concert, the annual Love Concert and
continued the tradition of the annual Christmas Concert. Some of the wonderful musicians who have played and sung with Vicki at Unity Eastside include
Darryl Steele, Minie Brattain, Doug Gauss. Paula Held, Jon Copps, Sir Charles Atkins, Velma Frye, Carrie Hamby, Erin Sologaistoa and Linda Collins.
